Xenia Area Young Professionals raise $2,240 in fundraiser for Xenia homeless students

Xenia Area Young Professionals, a volunteer civic organization affiliated with the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce, recently presented a check for $2,240 to Xenia Community Schools Homeless Program Liaison Sandy Pramer, RN. The organization raised the funds through their second fundraiser at Nick’s Restaurant that featured a silent auction and other events.

The money will be used to purchase clothing, shoes, toiletries, snacks and other vital supplies not provided through the district’s McKinney-Vento grant funding for homeless students.

At the current time, approximately 100 students are classified as homeless in the Xenia school district. By federal government definition, homeless can mean living in a shelter, hotel, domestic violence shelter or with family members.

Shown presenting the check are, left to right, Bart Dolbeer, Key Bank; Jim Saner, Montgomery Insurance and Investments; alan Liming, Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce; Jamie Dolbeer, Montgomery Insurance and Investments; Chrissy Roundtree, Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce; Sandy Pramer, Xenia Community Schools Homeless Liaison; Michelle Sivert, PNC Bank; Sarah Ahmend, Williamson Insurance; and her son, Joey.

For more information on the school’s homeless program or how to support its efforts, contact Pramer at 562-9017.
