The Xenia Community School District begins its open enrollment process for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade only beginning at 7:30 a.m., Monday, March 21, and ending at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 21, for intradistrict children who wish to attend a school not in his or her native attendance area.
The deadline for interdistrict open enrollment---students living outside the Xenia Community School District---is Friday, July 22.
Several changes have been made to the district’s open enrollment policy.
Transportation will not be provided to students who open enroll in a school; transportation will only be provided to those students who attend their native school.
A modified school calendar will permit all students to attend on the same schedule as opposed to a traditional and a year-round school schedule. All elementary school students will attend school on the same schedule.
Open enrollment is only available to students in kindergarten through fifth grade this year as the current Central Middle School will house the district’s pre-school program and all sixth-grade students. All seventh and eighth grade students in the district will attend Warner Junior High School.
Open enrollment applications will be available at the Xenia Board of Education, 578 E. Market St., Xenia, at elementary schools and on-line at www.xenia.k12.oh.us the week of March 15. Follow the Parent Resources link to the open enrollment form.
An application form must be completed for each child in the family who wishes to attend a school outside their assigned attendance area.
No completed open enrollment applications will be accepted by mail, by fax or in person before 7:30 a.m., Monday, March 21.
Applications are date and time-stamped as requests for open enrollment are received on a first-come, first-serve basis. Approval is based upon grade level classroom space availability in the requested school.
For more information about open enrollment, call the Xenia Board of Education at (937) 376-2961.
