Area business leaders, community organizations and individuals were honored for their gifts of time, talent or funding to Xenia Community Schools at the recent Partners in Education (PIE) Appreciation Breakfast at Faith Community United Methodist.
Partners in Education is sponsored by the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce, Greene County Career Center and Xenia Community Schools. Partners in Education strive to extend the boundaries between schools and businesses.
Xenia Community Schools Supt. Deborah Piotrowski was the featured speaker and shared an update on the construction of five new elementary schools in the district.
Awards were presented to Partners in Education participants for their efforts in supporting Xenia Community Schools.
Those new Partners of the Year award recipients include:
- Rookie Partner of the Year: Xenia Area Young Professionals;
- Community Partner of the Year: Faith Community United Methodist Church
- Business Partner of the Year: Barco
Relationships between Partners and Xenia schools can be established in many ways, such as loaning or donating equipment, providing funds or items to be used as incentives for academic achievements, sharing specific talents with a class or within a school, sponsoring field trips, serving as a mentor and much more.
The breakfast was underwritten by Wright Patt Credit Union and Bob Evans, who provided all food; as well as the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce for all mailing and printing costs. Other donations included centerpieces from Wicklines Florist and Garden Center; muffins from Perkins Restaurant; and beverages from Charlene Landis.
