Six years ago, with support from the Xenia residents, the district completed the construction of five new elementary school buildings. The middle and high school buildings were planned to follow the elementary buildings. Three times the community was asked to approve a levy to pay for building improvements, and three times that request was denied. The need for building improvements has not gone away. The Board hired SHP Leading Design to assist with an effort to create a capital improvement plan. SHP has assessed our eight school buildings to determine how we can keep them up to date, now and into the future.
You are invited to be a part of our Visioning Committee to help create the plan for what education in our district should look like in the future and how facilities would support learning. Beginning August 23, we've set aside the fourth Thursday of each month to meet, with the exception of November, December, and March. We will meet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The dates are listed below. We hope that you will consider attending these meetings and commit to assisting us in planning for the future of Xenia students.
