The Xenia Community Schools Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) received and approved it's second Master Teacher application. Rhonda Keller, Spring Hill Elementary School teacher, has been designated a Master Teacher on her Ohio educator's license.
A master teacher demonstrates excellence inside and outside of the classroom through consistent leadership and focused collaboration to maximize student learning. A master teacher strives for distinguished teaching and continued professional growth as specified by The Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.
Effective 2011, the Master Teacher (MT) Program became part of the new licensure structure. By successfully completing the MT Program, a candidate is eligible for an advanced teaching license. The process for educators wanting to pursue this designation on their license is extensive, but, allows for significant professional development.
