Welcome to the Treasurer's Office

The treasurer’s office handles a great deal of the day-to-day financial functions of the district including issuing payroll, billing for insurance, purchasing, reporting to the state of Ohio and the U.S. Department of Education, forecasting and tracking revenues and expenditures, and investing. While these are important functions of the treasurer’s office, the most crucial component is to allocate adequate funding to all areas so that Xenia Community Schools can offer children the best education possible.

 

Eric J. SoltisTreasurer/CFO Eric J. Soltis was hired in June of 2016 and began working with the district officially on August 1, 2016.  He holds a Master of Business Administration and an Ohio School Treasurer's License, and also has a unique background in architecture/environmental design.  He has a mindset to build trust and make a lasting impact in the field of education by demonstrating a hard work ethic, integrity, creativity, and an encouraging, yet humble, attitude.

 

Darian Ascoli Assistant Treasurer Darian Ascoli was hired in October of 2014. He graduated from Wright State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Finance and currently holds an Ohio School Treasurer’s License. He oversees daily financial operations of the district, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. He assists the curriculum and special education departments with managing the district’s state and federal grant budgets. Darian also works with local non-public schools to manage Auxiliary Services funding.

 

Melissa Kraemer Accounting Specialist and Secretary to the Treasurer Melissa Kraemer has served in the treasurer’s office for over fifteen years. Besides assisting the treasurer with the monthly board meeting minutes and general office duties, she processes purchase orders, invoices, and receipts funds collected for the entire district. Melissa is also the liaison for the district's Wellness Committee and facilitates wellness initiatives for the staff.

 

Jessica Huffman Head Payroll Specialist Jessica Huffman joined the Treasurer’s office in February of 2017. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Cincinnati. Jessica is primarily responsible for processing salary and benefit information, including calculating district taxes and liabilities (such as STRS and SERS), updating payroll records (tax exemptions, deductions, direct deposit changes, job and position information), working with 403(b) and 457 plans, and overseeing wage garnishments.

 

Joyce Lewis Bookkeeping Technician Joyce Lewis has worked in the payroll office at Xenia Community Schools for thirty years.  She was born and raised  in Xenia. Her children, and now two of her grandchildren, attended and graduated from the district.  Joyce primarily focuses on processing sick and vacation leave, time sheets, verifications of employment, reporting staff information to the state retirement systems, and any other general questions pertaining to payroll.
