Weekly Bulletin

I hope that this week's bulletin finds each of you in good health and having enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing weekend with your families. It is hard to believe that in less than two weeks another school year will have gone by.  I look back in amazement with all that we have accomplished this past school year.  You have done a remarkable job with our students.  I can only hope that the progress we initiated this past year continues into the future.  Thanks again for all you do.

Presentations at Central Middle School

Ms. Jennifer Chapman planned a six week unit that allowed research, creativity, reading, and critical thinking.  Sixth grade students selected a topic, read two books about the topic, and used search engines to conduct additional research. After completing extensive research, each student created a trifold display and collected media that would help to explain the topic.  To add more excitement, students created various forms of art. Students used, tape, clay, paint, crayons, and pencils to express their creative side.  Each topic was then presented to a classroom full of energetic and supportive classmates.

Staff Appreciation Week

This week, Xenia Community Schools has focused on honoring and appreciating all staff members. Every employee at XCS has a direct impact on the lives of Xenia children.  During the school day, members of Central Office substituted for teachers as they went outside to enjoy a cupcake before returning to their students. Staff at XCS dedicate countless hours throughout the school year and words (or cupcakes) will never be enough to say thank you.

Groundbreaking Ceremony

On April 15, several community members gathered together to be a part of the historic groundbreaking to the artificial turf project. Superintendent, Denny Morrison, welcomed the crowd and introduced the architects and construction workers.  Several more speakers provided insight and words of gratitude. The funds for the project were provided by generous donations from members of the BUC CLUB.  The members will have a plaque beside the field to provide recognition for their contribution.
