Dean of Students: Heather Sage
Warner Middle School’s approach to middle school education is designed to create an environment where students can flourish. Students are assigned to grade-level cohorts that follow a specific set of teachers throughout the school year. This cohort concept fosters collaboration among teachers and supports our Positive Behavior Intervention Support Program.
Warner Middle School teachers are held to high standards and strive to improve individual student achievement. All staff members participate in ongoing professional development designed to prepare them to meet the challenges established by the state of Ohio and the ever-changing demands of today’s world. English Language Arts and Math teachers have been participating in professional development in the implementation of the new Common Core State Standards. They have also received job embedded professional development in Collins Writing, a program designed to improve student performance through Writing and Thinking Across the Curriculum. In addition, twelve Warner Middle School teachers and two administrators have received extensive professional development in Co-Teaching. This professional development has included class observations, pre and post conferences for each partnership and a monthly meeting to evaluate the progress that is being made.
Our Positive Behavior Intervention Support program rewards students for their positive behavior in common areas. These behaviors are modeled at the beginning of the year and then become expected behaviors for the remainder of the year. Our five Buc Behaviors are: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Prepared, Be Honest, and Be On Time. Students can earn BUC BUCKS for displaying these behaviors. BUC BUCKS can be used at our BUC Store or to enter a monthly BUC Drawing. Our BUC Store offers students a variety of items including school supplies (paper, pencils, erasers, etc.) and school spirit wear. BUC Drawings have included items such as turkey dinners, a stadium blanket and football tickets, gift baskets, and gift cards.
Warner Middle School offers an after school tutoring program to students. This tutoring program is supervised by two certified teachers and is offered Tuesday thru Friday from 2:10 until 3:10 p.m.. This program is funded by Title 1 resources.
Staff and students at Warner Middle School are BUILDING PRIDE each and every day.
