The pizza party went extremely well, and much pizza and snacks were devoured. Thanks go out to Mrs. Ohrman for bringing extra snacks, pop, and cookies.
The Ulthuan Knights are still champs! In a fairly sedate match, the Ulthuan Knights conquered Leif's Mercenaries, scoring in the final turn of the game to make it 4-1. The edge on casualties goes to the Knights as well, causing a serious injury and two badly hurts to the Mercenaries' two BHs. The Mercenaries pulled off a trick play in the second half utilizing the Hail Mary/Diving Catch combo allowing them to score one touchdown. Otherwise, the Knights dominated the field, keeping the ball in the Mercenaries' half most of the time.
Keep an eye on the Gamers Club Facebook page for information on meetings at the Greene County Public Library over the summer.
And that's the end of Xenia Gamers Club for the 2011-2012 school year!

The pizza party is tomorrow! Alumni are welcome for this last meeting, but bring $3 if you want to eat pizza.

The big news is the Blood Bowl tournament, and in that nothing is bigger than the drubbing the Knights took at the hands of the Packers. Sure, the Knights won the game 5-1, but the dwarves made those nancy-boy elves pay for that victory in blood. Those dwarves must have been packing brass knuckles, because it seemed like every time an elf went down, an injury followed. At the end of the game, there were 5 elves in the Dead and Injured box; one badly hurt, and four seriously injured. Thanks to the medical staff, only two elves will be missing the next game. Worried about facing the Mercenaries, Knights head coach Aelmon Brighthelm purchased the services of Prince Moranion and another lineman for the final game, as well as retiring the two injured elves.
Speaking of the Mercenaries, they won rather handily in their match against the Harulkum Headbangers, and are fresh and fit and ready to go in the final, while the Knights are limping along. Look at the league standings for details.
Plus, with that win (and two extra games under their belt), Leif's Mercenaries move into first place in the league! If the Knights want to keep their throne, they'll need to dispatch the Mercenaries in the final!

So what did YOU do for Free Comic Book Day? I went to Epic Loot and met up with Fluffy, Barker, and a couple of Gamers Club graduates from the olden days (Joel, Will, and Kyle) to play some awesome games and have some good times until the wee hours. Hopefully you went to Super Fly Comics, Bookery Fantasy, or Bell, Book, and Comic. Hopefully you didn't just sit at home and not get a free comic book... did you?

Retro Console Day was
awesome! I discovered that a lot of you are much better than I am; my
skills have gotten very rusty. Sad face. If I was still in my 1996
N64 prime, I'd whup you all.

In Blood Bowl news, two of our coaches have already dropped out of the tournament. The first round of the tournament will be the Ulthuan Knights vs. the G.B. Packers, and Leif's Mercenaries vs. the Harulkum Headbangers.
Our end-of-year pizza party will be the 15th. You must have paid your dues to get any pizza.
Remember that Origins is May 30-June 3 in Columbus. I'd recommend any and all of you to go to that convention; it's cheap, it's close, and it's very soon.

Okay, so tomorrow is the N64 Console Day. If you've signed up to bring stuff, please make sure you do.
Tomorrow is the start of the Blood Bowl tourney! Be there.
Alex, Fluffy, Darrien, Paul, and I had a great time at FOPCON. Barker won an $80 gift certificate to Epic Loot! Wow! Too bad more people didn't come.
April

Okay, so we didn't start the tournament yet. Sad face.
Next week is Retro Console Day! We're going to have an Nintendo 64 celebration, and you should be there! remember, you must be a paid member to play consoles at MCD. If you signed up to bring controllers or a console, PLEASE remember to do so!
Please refresh your memory on the swear jar rules. If I or any officer overhear you swearing, it's a dollar. If you don't have money, you have until the next meeting to pay. You cannot come back to club meetings until you pay. If you refuse to pay, you are kicked out.
Don't forget FOPCON coming up this weekend. I'll be there around 1 PM or so.
April
20, 2012
I talked more about FOPCON and gave the usual Gen Con/Origins presentation this past meeting. If you were thinking about trying to get to FOPCON, I highly recommend it. It happens next Saturday (April 28th). Here's a link to Google Maps on how to get there from the high school.
Attention all Blood Bowl coaches: it's time for the end-of-year Tournament! Your team needs to have played at least 4 games to stand a chance of competing. If you want to be part of it, let Mr. Keefe know on Tuesday!
April

Just a quick bit of news; FOPCON is coming up on Saturday, April 28th, starting at 9:30 AM and running to 10:30 PM. It's a small local gaming convention that's being held in Huber Heights by the Dayton-area Fraternal Order of Police. It costs $5 at the door, and they have events for role-playing games, board games, miniatures games, and even a costume contest this year. They also have a paint and take, and the Clay-O-Rama game is always fun. Mr. Funk and I went last year, and it was a good time.
Here's a pic of Mr. Funk at last year's FOPCON.

Just a reminder; Mrs. Ohrman will be watching you guys today. Be good.
Also, the curse jar is in effect starting today. Here are the rules for the curse jar.
| 1. | One dollar ($1) for each curse word heard by me or an officer. No exceptions, no exemptions. |
| 2. | NO CHANGE WILL BE PROVIDED. |
| 3. | If you have to put in more
than one dollar at a meeting, you and I are going to have words.
And they won't be congratulatory.
|
| 4. | If you refuse to pay the curse jar, you must leave. Immediately. Don't come back. |
| 5. | If you owe the curse jar money, you CANNOT come back to a club meeting until that money is paid. |
This is not a money-making scheme. This is a way to get the language problem under control. If it makes money for the club because you lack impulse control, then so be it.
Please let me know if the increase to $5 would represent a hardship for anyone. I don't want to exclude people because of this.
April

Hey everyone. Mrs. Ohrman will be watching the club for the next two weeks; I can't stay for the meetings. Be good for her. Remember, she leaves around 4:00, so plan ahead.

Thinking about instituting a
curse jar. Seriously. Some of you are ridiculous.

Orc team Da Goffiks took on the new Dark Elf team Caesar's Centurions yesterday. Apparently the fans were none too pleased about the delay, as the game started with a six turn riot! Following that, both teams proved to be rather inept ball handlers, and the first half was rapidly over. The second half wasn't much better, as a comedy of errors on the part of both teams ensued in that very little actually happened. And I mean very little; the final score was 1-0 in favor of Da Goffiks, who for the first time this season actually got to keep their winnings for the game.
Then we got to try out the D&D Castle Ravenloft board game that Riley brought with him. I had a good time, and we stomped the vampiric forces of darkness pretty hard. Apparently it didn't go so well the first time, but then I stepped in and whupped me some butt.

Happy Pi Day!
Please see the comments below.
Small meeting yesterday, which is to be expected when it's during OGT week. I played three games, all of which I lost miserably. Oh well.
The Headbangers challenged the Mercenaries to a duel yesterday. They quickly learned to regret that decision. Kevin simply couldn't do anything wrong in that game and treated that high dwarf armor like it was paper. I have never seen a dwarf team so mauled and massacred, and that was only what the crowd did at kickoffs! At one kickoff, there were only 3 dwarfs left on the field! In true Dwarven fashion, they resolutely soldiered on. When the bloodbath was over and the fine red mist settled, it was a 6-0 victory for the humans with 5 casualties to 1.
Blood Bowl coaches: I'm beginning to suspect some creative accounting. You MUST record winnings and other sources of money on your match record chart. Some of you are buying stuff and I have no idea where the money came from.

Wow, meant to get to this last week and I never did.
First, some housecleaning issues. When you are at Gamers Club, you do not leave and roam the school and come back. Several people are disappearing for a while and returning; this is not allowed. If you can't adhere to this, you are not welcome at the club. When you leave, you leave for the rest of the day.
Secondly, if you get a game out please put it back the way it was before you opened it. Make sure all the pieces are there, etc. Too many games are just getting stuffed back into the boxes haphazardly. Some of them you can't even put the lid all the way down; this damages games and components, and it loses pieces. We're missing pieces from a few games due to this, and they're not that easily replaced.
Finally, the cursing needs to get better. People are going to start getting suspended from the club with referrals to the office to follow if it doesn't improve. This is a school club, and adheres to all school rules. Please reacquaint yourself with the rules and procedures of Gamers Club.
In Blood Bowl news, the two leading teams the Ulthuan Knights and the Pikeland Blitzers met up in the duel of the ages. The Blitzers pulled out to an early 1-0 lead as the elves simply couldn't get their act together. Things turned around quickly when the human thrower became completely unable to pick up the ball, causing a total of 5 turnovers! Doom and gloom pervaded the human dugout during halftime and they simply weren't motivated for the second half, having no rerolls available. Capitalizing on the blunders of the human throwing staff after their lone touchdown, the Knights dominated the field for the rest of the match. Final score was 5-1 in favor of the Knights. Check the TSBBL League Standings for further news!

So I forgot to set up Mini Console Day for next week. Whoops. You can email me on the console reservation page, drop by the room, or just surprise me next week.
Numbers have been good
recently. This makes me happy.
![]()
We've been having problems
with cursing and horseplay from a few members. This does NOT make me
happy.
School rules do apply; if you wouldn't say it in class, you'd better not say it
at the meeting. Darrien and Joey, I'm looking at you.
In Blood Bowl news, the Ulthuan Knights gave the Mercenaries their first loss of the season. The Knights took the ball to start, scored in two turns, and kept that momentum all game long. The god Nuffle was smiling on the elves, as they only used two rerolls the entire game. Fouling, dodging, passing; it just all worked for them this game, and they dominated the game 5-0, as well as killing a lineman. He was saved by the apothecary, but still; he was dead for a brief while! Unfortunately, the Knights could not make the same claim for their own apothecary, as he miserably failed to heal a serious injury to lineman Eltharion Silverhelm, who will miss next week's headliner match against the Pikeland Blitzers.
The Stiffs took on the Headbangers in a low-scoring (for wood elves, anyway) game. The lack of decipherable notes makes it difficult to form a report. I can tell you that the Stiffs won the game 2-1, suffering 4 casualties in the process.

So I thought it went really well yesterday. Lots of games being played. An old XGC alumni John Riley came by with three new games. I got to play Blood Bowl: Team Manager, and I have to say, I thought it was pretty sweet. Not sure of the balance inherent in the six teams offered just yet, but that may iron itself out after a few plays and you get used to each style of play.
I had to leave early, but I saw that Funk was running some of you through a playtest of the prototype from Philip duBarry called Bank Job. Sounds pretty good in the description, but I haven't gotten a chance to play through it yet. Looking forward to it, as I've really enjoyed his last offerings that we've playtested.
In Blood Bowl news, the Mercenaries took on the newly-minted dwarf Harulkum Headbangers. Postponed from last week, they finished the game yesterday with the grand score of 5-0 for a win for the Mercenaries. The Mercenaries are certainly hitched to an ascending star, and are a team to watch in the coming weeks!

Thank you to Mrs. Ohrman for standing in for me when I was gone Tuesday! That let Gamers Club not be cancelled, which I'm sure makes you all happy.
February
8, 2012
So yesterday's MCD went off without a hitch. Good stuff.
Mr. Funk has another playtesting game in the works from Philip DuBarry. We have playtested several of his other games in the past, and have been credited in Kingdom of Solomon. We got a signed copy of Revolution! for our work playtesting it.
Keefe's forces of Menoth clashed with Fluffy's Cygnar army in Warmachine yesterday. In a semi-wooded hilly field, Coleman Stryker's patrol, aided by mercenary Nyss, met up with an Exemplar Task Force led by Mikael Kreoss. Initial concerns on the vast shootiness of the Cygnar force was mitigated somewhat by blocked fire lanes and an adroit use of terrain by Mr. Keefe, and the game ended in a slaughter of Cygnar forces. Stryker had to run back to Caspia with is tail between his legs.
The Pikeland Blitzers vied with the G.B. Packers on the pitch. Whoever won would move into first place in the league; however, as the game wore on, the speed of the humans became too much for the slower dwarves to contend with. A risky play and the intervention of a dog later, and the Blitzers won the game 2-1. With that, the Blitzers move up into a tie with the Ulthuan Knights for first place.
February
1, 2012
Next week is our first Mini Console Day in a while! Please remember that you must be a paid member to play or bring in consoles!
We will also be doing the Gen Con presentation that day. Try to be there on time.
More Blood Bowl goodness! The Pikeland Blitzers took on Da Goffiks yesterday in Da Goffiks sophomore appearance. Luckily for them, the Blitzers were down their star Catcher due to a crushed collarbone. After another was Press-Ganged into the Imperial Navy and a third was arrested for his alleged thievery, the Blitzers were three men short to Da Goffiks' full roster. Numerical superiority soon made itself known, and the orcs were able to prevent the Blitzers from scoring at all, although it was very close. Mr. Keefe destroyed all the odds by rolling 4 sixes in a row to score a third time. After rolls like that and given the normal inclination of dice worldwide to hate him, I must say that it's currently snowing somewhere it's normally very hot. It wasn't all ice cream and lollies, though, as the Blitzers managed to get the Blood Bowl league to donate the orcs' winnings to a children's charity. Da Goffiks Fan Factor may have gone up, but they still haven't taken home any money in two games. The orcs take the game, 3-0.
The Stiffs also took on the freshly formed human teams Leif's Mercenaries. The ball seemed to be moving up and down the field quite nicely, and judging from the yelling of both coaches, quite entertaining as well. Each team managed two touchdowns for an end result of a 2-2 tie.

Spirit Week comes to a close. I am sad. Pics of me and Alex as the Blues Brothers are up on the Facebook page!
In Blood Bowl news, the Pikeland Blitzers met the Brawlaz on the field of war. Playing under massive heat, players were subject to heat exhaustion on each drive and were dropping left and right. I don't think either team ever had a full eleven men on the field at any time. Bravely soldiering on, the Blitzers took advantage of the numbers game and smashed the Brawlaz 3-0. On the hurty end of things, neither team had a solid advantage.
The Ulthuan Knights challenged the Packers in a showdown for the league lead position. The elves established dominance of the playing field early on, scoring in the first two turns and keeping the pressure on for the rest of the game. Aided by the Packer's coach two Illegal Procedures in a row, the Knights pulled off a 5-0 victory. The Packers had the solitary casualty of the game, putting one elf in the injury box for the entire game, then charging the Knights coach for the use of his apothecary! With the win, the Ulthuan Knights move into the top position in the league. Can you beat them?

T-shirts are done! Apparently they've actually been done for a while, but since the voicemail at the high school is not working, they haven't been able to leave a message to tell me so. I will have them available to pick up at the meeting on Tuesday. If you REALLY want it beforehand, you can pick them up Monday.
January
11, 2012
To answer the question; t-shirts should be in sometime next week. I will put it on here and have an announcement made.
Avery brought in a new game
called Zombie State, in which he wanted me to figure out how to play it and
teach him.
Not cool. Anyway, I was playing Blood Bowl and it looked overly complex.
Maybe next time.
Beginner's luck of the female persuasion still rules supreme, as Theresa beat all the experienced players in Manila yesterday. She is quiet and sly. Keep an eye on that one.
On the Blood Bowl side of things, orc team Da Goffiks took the pitch for their first match of the season against the wood elf team The Stiffs. The rabid anticipation of the fans was thick; leading to a three turn riot at the start of the game. They even kidnapped the Goffiks' coach in the scrum, ransoming him back for 90,000 gp at the end! Once the referees finally had those unruly fans back in the stands where they belong (and separated from the players), the players took the field. Expecting to lose, the orc coach was quite surprised as Nuffle Himself blessed his dice, allowing the brutish louts to paint the field with leafy-flavored elf blood. One Wardancer put forth an extremely valiant and typically elven play, vaulting over the greenskins, picking up the ball in two tackle zones, and sprinting down the field in a breakaway. Looking as if he'd score, he then pulled another typical elven move, rolling a one on Go For It and promptly falling, stunning himself. Da Goffiks took a surprise win 2-0 against The Stiffs.
The new human team the Pikeland Blitzers took on Da Brawlaz in their maiden game. The humans certainly had their way with the orcs, as they trounced along to a 4-0 victory. Brawlaz head coach David was noted saying the game was, simply put: "Epic fail galore!" Da Brawlaz had the last laugh though, as they stole all the Blitzers money at the end of the match!
The Gen Con 2012 website is now active! It's never too early to start thinking about Gen Con, especially since preregistration starts January 29th.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO ORDER T-SHIRTS OR HOODIES.
Another disappointing
turnout for yearbook pictures. I made more noise about this one than ever
before, and I think we had the lowest turnout than ever before. Great.
![]()
In Blood Bowl news, it was a tense first half for the Ulthuan Knights as it really looked like the freshman Stiffs Wood Elf team coached by Alex might pull off an upset. It seemed that the Knights were wearing paper armor as elf after elf was sent off to the dugout either injured or knocked out. Who knew that Wood Elves had it in them? Speedy little buggers too, they tore around the pitch with complete disregard to sensible move stats. The ball changed hands many, many times before any touchdowns were scored. At one point, there were only five Knights on the field to eleven Stiffs. After an epic blitz by the Knights thrower involving 3 dodges, two Go For Its, and an even-die block, the Stiffs were denied a second touchdown, and the final score was 3-1 in favor of the Knights.
The G.B. Packers took on the newly formed Orc team Da Brawlaz. After another slow game in which head coach Robert tried to pull every thing against the rules, the final score was tied 1-1. Seriously. After playing four years, you'd think he'd know the rules by now.
Have a great break, and enjoy whatever it is you celebrate, be it Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the winter Solstice, Saturnalia, or the Yule.

REMINDER: t-shirt order forms are ready to be picked up in Mr. Keefe's room (B241). Club pics for the yearbook are next Wednesday, and ours is first period at 7:45-ish. Please let your teachers know, and be there in a black shirt or club shirt.
We played our third game of Super Dungeon Explore, and despite a promising start by the heroes, the Consul was able to wipe them off the map before the Dragon even got a turn. They managed to kill off two spawning points fairly quickly, but then never left their starting room. Angry Bear was a complete failure, whom I suppose they could blame for not moving the party to the northerly room.
A new game named Curses! made an appearance, and it sounded like WAY too much fun. If I didn't need to get back into the Blood Bowl season, I'd want to play that next time.
December
13, 2011
Pictures for the yearbook are December 21st. We are 1st period at 7:45. Be here on time, wear a club shirt or a black shirt. PLEASE come down and take the picture; we always have only about half the club actually show up for the picture. It's heartbreaking.
December
7, 2011
T-shirt order forms are available! T-shirts start at $12.50, and hoodies start at $26.00. Sizes above XL are more. You can pick up order forms at the meeting or from Mr. Keefe in B241. I'd like to order these right before break so they are ready when we return, so let's get these all turned in by December 21. If your parents want to write a check, they can do so, but it needs to be made out to me (Kevin Keefe).
T-shirts are our usual black with red print. Quotes are as follows:
Just set yourself on fire.
I’m going to play ALL my silly songs!
I hate this game.
Why’d they make him a lawyer? Don’t they know how stupid he is?
Where did he get a sandwich?
Bagford Harbormasters™ – We crash and burn!
Wait, how do I turn this thing on?
That’s a trademark Keefe move.
The bullet only pierced the first layer of fat. I am invincible!
Read the card! It’s self-explanatory!
We’re special. At least, that’s how the state would put it.
I’m an idiot being outsmarted by a rubber band.
You can’t pop DEAD back into socket.
In other news, Super Dungeon Explore made a return appearance, this time playing the Super! level dungeon. The heroes were kicking much Kobold butt and taking names. Then the dragon showed up; they didn't last long after that. Evidence that you should always keep your eye on the big picture and not get mired in Kobold blood; they forgot to kill the spawning points, and the dragon got FIVE activations per turn.
In Blood Bowl news, the dwarven G.B. Packers took on the Majestic Elves. The Majestics continue their run of rotten luck as another elf died, another was seriously injured and will miss another game. Watching a bit of it, I have determined that head coach David may be better suited to a more orky style of play.
December
5, 2011
Hey. We will be taking club pictures for the Yearbook on December 21st, the last day before break. We will be during 1st period; tell your teachers, try to be here that day, and wear a club shirt if you have one, and black if you don't.
November
30, 2011
Okay, if you weren't at the meeting, you missed two AWESOME new games. Mr. Keefe brought in Super Dungeon Explore, which was so much fun it ought to be criminal. It took a bit longer than expected for the Paladin and Dwarf to kill off the Kobold spawning points, but they managed it. The little guys did kill off the Paladin and his annoying healing potions, but the Dwarf found a Resurrection Stone in the nick of time, brought the Paladin back, and won the game.
You also missed Doggie Doo, which is pretty much what it sounds like. A dog pooping. And it's amazing. I think it's supposed to be a kid's game, so I don't know what that means for this 35 -year-old. I loved it though. Mr. Funk tells me it's available at Target now. I know what my kids are getting for Christmas.
In the Blood Bowl world, the Lightning Hammers took on the Majestic Elves. I have not looked at the game notes yet, but I am told that 1. the Lightning Hammers won, and 2. there was a dead elf in there somewhere.
Also, I forgot to set up the Mini Console Day for next Tuesday. If you want to bring in a system, let me know. I'm just going to assume people will bring stuff.
November
22, 2011
There is NO MEETING TODAY.
November
17, 2011
Remember, there will be NO MEETING the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I will be going home to spend time with my family; I suggest you do the same!
In Blood Bowl news, the freshman team Majestic Elves took on the Ulthuan Knights, newly (and historically!) re-formed after the vicious drubbing they took at the hands of the Lightning Hammers. Once again, history repeated itself as a Knight died in the first few turns. Incensed, they responded with a killing of their own against the Majestics. The Knights then exerted their usual control of the field, outscoring the Majestics 4-0.
There was a Dwarf match-up as well, with the Lightning Hammers taking on the G. B. Packers. True to Dwarf form, the match turned into a slow slogfest up and down the field. At the kick off of the second half there was a six turn riot as the fans demanded MORE ACTION. Unfortunately, that only left two turns to the end of the game, and the Packers were able to stonewall the Hammers to a 1-0 victory.
Check the XGC Triple Skulls Blood Bowl League page for standings and more.
Chess, Revolution!, Poo, Frag, Station Master (one of my favorites), Apples to Apples, and a few others were also making an appearance this week. Glad to see Frag back out. It's too fun of a game to stay on the cart.
November
9, 2011
Well, the Blood Bowl season certainly started off with a bang! The perennial favorite High Elf Ulthuan Knights faced off against the Dwarf Lightning Hammers in a rather apocalyptic (for the elves anyway!) match. The Knights established their usual scoring dominance right away, but the Hammers were quick to exert a dominance of their own as they proceeded to kill Elf blitzer Kelmon Wyrmbane in their very first turn! The injuries continued apace, mauling 4 more and killing thrower Karhedron Eaglekin in the second half. The Knights numbers were so depleted in the second half that the Hammers scored practically unchallenged, leaving only 2 elves on the field in their wake. Enraged by all the carnage, the Knight fans invaded the pitch but were beaten back by the players, succeeding in only knocking one dwarf out and badly hurting another.
The Knights managed to hang on to a 3-1 win despite all the injuries and face only having 8 players available for the next game. However, rumors are about concerning viability and an unheard-of possible shutdown and restart of the team. Head Coach Aelmon Brighthelm will neither confirm nor deny any rumors, only stating, "It's a hard place we're in, and no mistake."
November

Good times were had at the MCD, although it's become apparent to me that, for being nerds, some of us really stink at hooking up the Xbox. Glad to see John and his Rock Band setup for the PS3. I went over and made some ears bleed; I feel better for that.
There were games of Thunderstone, chess, and the Space Hulk: Death Angel card game were played too. As is normally the case in the actual miniatures game, the Genestealers handily destroyed the Emperor's Finest in our game. For being such fearsome warriors in 40K, Terminator Marines sure can't hit the broad side of a barn in Space Hulk.

Next week is the Mini Console Day for November! If you signed up for something, please remember to bring it. If you haven't paid your dues, YOU CANNOT PLAY VIDEO GAMES. Fair warning.
We saw the introduction of Destruct 3 to the club by Mr. Funk. Super fun, super short, and a good time for all. I brought back Thunderstone and introduced several people to it; easily the most fun deck building game (to me at least).

IMPORTANT!! I
seem to have misplaced the original sign-ups for running for office.
If I

email me what you wanted to run for.
I want to do the voting next week, so please be quick about it. You can
also leave a note on the

Here's who I have running for office:
President: Josh "Fluffy" Johnson, Alex Barker
Vice President: Jonathon Meeks, Joey Crain
Secretary: David Fidler
Sergeant-at-Arms: Darrien Bagford, Mikaela Howell
First Mini Console Day down,
and I thought it went really well. Besides the noise from Alex and Darrien,
it went quite smoothly and except for the initial CTF game, I didn't get any
complaints about not getting to play or not liking what was offered. Which
reminds me; we really need to avoid Capture the Flag games or put a time limit
of 10 minutes on them. They just go too long and people don't get to play
as often.

Remember that the regular board games are still available to play, even during MCD. I played a well-fought game of chess, while some others played a round of Catan.

Lots of fun yesterday! I showed Avanti and David how to thrash people in Blood Bowl, toads were squished repeatedly (and loudly) in Talisman, I played my fastest game of Settlers of Catan ever, Mr. Funk demoed Dos Rios by Mayfair, and lots of other games were happening. I got my first look at Halo Wars Risk, and I gotta say, it looked interesting.
If you see a game on the cart that interests you and want to learn to play a game, just ask me, Mr. Funk, or any of the upperclassmen for help. They should be able to show you or guide you through it.
You can still sign up for office! I'm thinking we'll vote the meeting AFTER Mini Console Day, so you have 2 weeks. Remember you MUST have paid your dues to run for office or vote.
Alex, Darrien, Gunner, and David, remember that you need to bring in stuff for MCD! The rest of you, remember that from now on, if you haven't paid your dues, you don't play on the consoles!
Regular games will also be available on the Mini Console Day meetings.

Okay, it looks like we're
back
. Lots of excitement right now; it's time to be signing up to run for
office, we're taking quotes for the t-shirt, and our first Mini Console Day is
next week, so we'll be signing up for that this afternoon.
Remember that you MUST BE A PAID MEMBER to bring in stuff for Console Day and to play video games. You also must be a paid member to run for office, vote, or buy a t-shirt.
I will also be showing those
interested how to play Blood Bowl today.
Drop by to see what's up with
that. I'd like to start the Triple Skulls Blood Bowl league 2011-2012
season soon.
You can sign up to run for
office NOW! So far, we have Alex Barker and Josh Johnson (aka Fluffy)
running for president, Jonathon Meeks running unopposed for vice
president, and NO ONE running for secretary or the coveted Sergeant-at-Arms
position. Sign up today!

Also, we have sign-ups for those interested in the playtesting group. We need a minimum number to really consider doing it.
Don't forget the club Facebook page. Given the problems we've had here recently, it may be the best place for club news and events.

Sorry about the cancellation yesterday, guys. I had to stay home with the kids, and there's no one to jump in and take my place right after school. I hate to cancel Gamers Club, but I didn't have much choice.

Second meeting down, just as good as the first! Talisman made its first appearance of the year, and I was glad to see the crowd over there, and the noise when the Grim Reaper offed people. That's just good clean fun. We also had our first mini-Console Day, which seemed to go fairly well. However, there are a few things I need to point out.
| 1. | First off, you MUST clean up your mess. Cans and trash were left on the tables by the TVs. That is unacceptable. |
| 2. | Secondly, you need to take turns fairly. You can't play every game simply because it's your system; winner stays, everyone else gets off and allows others to play. No one should play more than two games in a row if there are others waiting. |
| 3. | Finally, people need to be good sportsmen. That means winning gracefully as much as it means losing without complaining. Smack talk should be kept to a minimum, as should name-calling. Cursing is right out. |
Also, we need to make sure dues are being paid. Dues allow you to do many things such as run for office, buy a t-shirt, propose new games, and eat pizza at the end of the year party. Maybe most important to some, it also means that you can bring in systems and play the video games. Console Day and video games have always been a perk for PAID members only.

Great first meeting everyone! I think it went extremely well, regardless of the technology troubles at first. We had lots of new faces and veterans, and that really makes me happy. Remember that it's once a week, every week. Check the XGC calendar if you have any questions about what's going on.
Please remember to turn in your application forms. It doesn't matter if you're new or a 3-year veteran. This is the best way for me to get current contact information for you so I can send out emails and the like.
Please remember that if you move anything, you need to put it back where it was. Push your chairs back in, and if you moved any tables, put it back where it was. Also, we need to make sure we're not leaving wrappers or empty cans and bottles laying around; that stuff needs to go in the trash! Check the rules and procedures!
Given the interest shown yesterday, I think it may behoove us to try a different approach on the video games. We are going to try to do a monthly mini-Console Day. On the first meeting of each month, we will allow 2-3 systems to come in. This way, we can get the multiplayer HALO or Black Ops goodness going. That means, however, that for the other three meetings we will only focus on board games and card games, kinda like we had going yesterday. You will still need to reserve a spot for a system; there will be some changes to the console reservation procedure, so please look over there for those changes.
Once again, look at the XGC Facebook page and join up!

Hey everyone! I hope your summer was amazing; mine was pretty good right until the end.
I'm thinking meetings on Tuesdays this year, and it'll stay there; I'm tired of trying to find a day where more people will come. Therefore, let it be known that the first meeting of the year is Tuesday, August 30, in the cafeteria next to the vending machines. Be there or be a regular quadrilateral of equidistant sides.
Anyway, this is to let you know that Gen Con was AWESOME and you should have gone. Pics will be up soon. If you check the Facebook page, I've already posted pics and a link to a video of ME dressed up as an Imperial Preacher along with some of my friends from the Warhammer 40K/Dawn of War/Dark Heresy universe. I don't want to brag or anything, but our group was pretty sweet.
Please look at the Gamers Club Rules and Procedures. Also, don't forget the Gamers Club Facebook page. Go become a fan and keep up on the latest Gamers Club happenings.
